this is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.
AllTimeJeff - But I was also duped into believing that how I felt towards "spiritually weak" ones, disfellowshipped, etc, was proper. When you are trained to believe that your very thoughts are monitored by Jehovah, then you think in a way that isn't healthy.
Exactly how I feel now that I know the real truth. So much that, despite having to do it in hiding for the time being, I have reached out to former friends that were disfelowshipped. I no longer believe that every person in this position wants to be wicked. It is just not up to man to judge, and then force their opinion or judgement of that person upon me.
It is indeed unhealthy to judge others upon what someone in a position of authority says or tells you about them.
Thanks for the comments and mamalove for resurrecting the thread!

it happened to me this weekend.
i'm curently "active" and had some long time friends from a different congregation over for dinner.. we went through the formality of praying before the meal.
normally or rather lately i've been passing it off to someone else.
@ simon17 - I do agree that there are many things for which we could be thankful. I just, at this point, am not sure if prayer is the necessary way to express it. Why not thank someone personally, that can respond personally, with a voice, or by action?
I'm still in the process of figuring out what God is really about. I believe in a creator. But as far as him responding to our petitions, I just don't think there is 100% evidence to prove it.

another wonderful part this week at the meeting.
and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.
funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

Oh yea, here is the scripture, Hezekiah 10:14, "And on the 30th day of the menstrual cycle of his mother, the LORD proceeded to report the total time spent in the work of the LORD, namely the ministry. And he proceeded to the local counter at the temple and requested a time slip, made of the finest papyrus. He gave thought to his activity and found it fair to say that he self-sacrificingly devoted 120 hours to the work this month. And he continually did this from that day on, for 3 and 1/2 years, until his death."

boy am i tired of hearing this one.
yes folks, i heard it at the meeting this week...again.
the sm included a local needs part and this was the subject - family worship night.. apparently, regarding fwn, that time was never, nor now is, ours.

@ miseryloveselders - In the past 6 months, I would venture to say that this is about the 3rd time we have a local needs dealing with this. I guess the major problem in the hall, or even sin, is getting people to be regular at this.
Oh yea, and I don't remember when I last studied for a meeting, unless I was assigned to read.

braveheart, Your are absolutely right. LOL Great and easy solution!
I'm working on it. But currently my situation doesn't allow for a change. I was texting earlier during the meeting so I had tuned out. But then this silly nonsense caught my ear. My fault for listening.

Apparently, regarding FWN, that time was never, nor now is, ours. As JW's, we are to use that extra night/time now provided/allowed, by the FDS, just for that purpose.
Why, I had no idea that I was incapable of saying and planning what I wanted to do with my time, MY OWN time!! But the FDS has LOVINGLY ALLOWED me to HAVE a night to worship together as a family. They allowed ME this time. Yes that was what was said.
OH BOY!!! THANK YOU!!
Have any of you slackers who are not following this arrangement and are going to die at Armageddon heard the same nonsense? (I'm sure you have because we are all united in true worship. But feel free to talk about it anyway.)

This is one of the most hilarious threads I've read in a while! So let me offer my contributions.
"Sacred service" - Anything classified with this title screams free labor without the hope of an unemployment check when they are thru with you and/or your job is done - whichever comes first
"Doing it for Jehovah" - Said to guilt you into doing ANYTHING, because it's not being done for men
"Inactive" - You weren't Jesus friend before and following his example, and this confirms it
"Low-hour publisher" - We're watching your numbers and your bringing down the company (congregation) average. How do we get a bonus this year? Oh wait, we don't get paid for this. But we still love to do it!
